How the job goes

How a repair & tune-up job goes

Every step below is how this service runs when we do it, no surprises on the invoice.

  1. 01

    You describe the symptom

Head not popping up. Zone won't shut off. Water bill jumped. Wet spot in the middle of the yard. That's usually enough for us to know what parts to load on the truck.

  2. 02

    We diagnose in the yard

Pressure check at the main, valve solenoid check with a multimeter, wire tracing capabilities. Cheapest problem gets ruled out first.

  3. 03

Fix on the same visit when we can

Broken heads, risers or nozzles, blown fuses in the controller, those are truck-stock fixes done the same visit. Buried valve replacements or a mainline break may take a second trip.

  4. 04

    Retune the zones

Once the parts are working we walk the yard and readjust heads as needed.

Common questions

Common questions about repair & tune-up

These are the questions we actually get about this service, not a generic FAQ pasted onto every page.

One zone won't turn on. Is that a big repair?
Usually not. Nine times out of ten it's a bad solenoid on the valve or a broken wire between the valve and the controller, both are same-day fixes.
My water bill spiked. How do I know it's the sprinklers?
Shut the system off at the controller for a week and watch the meter. If the bill drops, we look for a stuck valve or an underground leak. We can pinpoint most leaks without digging up the yard.
Do you carry replacement heads for old systems?
For anything Hunter in the last twenty years, yes. Off-brand or 1990s-era discontinued heads sometimes have to be swapped to a modern equivalent, which we'll price before we do it.
